Cyclestreets.net is a brilliant little website for bicyclists. Just enter where you are and where you want to go and it will take you a proper cyclists route, tell you the distance, how quiet or otherwiseit will be and how many calories you will burn completing it.
This is extraordinary. You can actually choose a route to avoid unnecessary hills. Excellent for the part-time cyclist!

Bicycle Shops or Bicycle Accessories Outlets or Cycle Repairers

Evans Cycles

C1, Abbey Road Business and Trade Park, Abbey Rd, Durham DH1 5HB, UK – 0191 434 0380

Had my bike serviced here a couple of times now, I wouldn't go anywhere else. The lads in the workshop are really friendly and helpful, explaining things well. Prices are really good too, and they don't try and charge for any unnecessary things, very honest and trustworthy, Bought stuff in the shop before too, I can't fault the store or Staff in any way - easily the best bike shop/workshop in the area.

Brilliant cycle shop definitely the best in Durham helpful staff decent value for money highly recommend this shop to anyone

Infinity Cycles | Durham

Littleburn Business Centre, Mill Rd, Langley Moor, Durham DH7 8ET, UK – 0191 378 4209

Made the effort to drive from Billingham and I can honestly say it's the best bike shop in the North East. There are two floors full of stock with every bike to suit budget type of bike you want. We bought a new ladies bike and I a pair of road shoes and got a good discount without even asking. If your into biking this is the place to visit.

Just bought a new cube bike from infinity customer service was second to none.assistant was very helpful and patient allowed me to test ride a couple of bikes in different sizes which was great and I was happy I chose the right size bike.would highly recommend.

Recyke Y'Bike

25 North Road, Durham DH1 4SG, UK – 0191 447 1770

Ok, I volunteer here so I'm a bit bias but it's great. The mechanics are well trained, knowledgeable, experienced and above all honest. They're good at fixing bikes, doing up old ones to sell and obviously recycling. What's not to like?? And yes, you can donate your old bike there, in any condition.

Good little shop.

Cycle Hire

The eBike Store, Durham

Front St, Durham DH1 5AU, UK – 0191 384 9913

Great place to buy an electric bike. We were impressed by the range of bikes on display and the fact that we could try the bikes before deciding which electric bike was best for our needs.

Halfords

Helpful and straightforward. I needed a socket of a specific size this morning; helpful colleague sorted out the best they had in stock and reassured saying if it wasn’t right size just pop back with it. This is what I had to do but again helpful no nonsense refund provided. Seemed busily engaged but helpful.

I bought a battery from the Arnison Centre store in December 16. Following starting problems, the garage told me the battery was at fault. I took it back to the store today, half expecting they would say there waws nothing wrong with it. Andy checked the battery and confirmed that it was in fact faulty. As I had already had to buy a new battery getting another battery wasn't a lot of use - although this is the only option offered by the guarantee. However, they checked with the manager - another Andy - and gave me a credit note for the full amount. Good result all round and thanks from me !!

Durham University

I graduated from Durham and I miss it so much. Durham always has a great position in my heart. BTW, I also miss the girls who I spent sometime with when I was in uni. If I become billionaire, I will definitely donate 1 million for the education fund and I won’t ask for a statue.

Peaceful, stunning, mind-relaxing
